Rest Quiet™ by LifeWave is advertised as using “Nanotechnology”, which is defined as “the engineering of functional systems at the molecular scale. This covers both current work and concepts that are more advanced” by the Center for Responsible Nanotechnology. The term Nanotechnology is usually used to describe the creation of machines on a molecular scale that can accomplish specific tasks.

It is not usually used in terms of holistic supplementation. The definition above is rather broad, and we believe LifeWave uses the term Nanotechnology very loosely. The website fails to actually disclose how they use Nanotechnology to induce sleep; although the website does have many impressive bells and whistles.

Rest Quiet™ uses a patch-based technology, which is not believed to deliver any chemicals into the body. The patch contains water, Oxygen and amino acids, as well as organic compounds of an undisclosed nature. The website indicates that the patch, which is a non-transdermal patch, “communicates with the body’s energy meridians similarly to the way acupuncture works”. Yet it fails to provide an in-depth explanation of what this means or how it does this, except to point out that it uses Nanotechnology, which does not lend much information.

We would like to note that this website does an adequate job of selling almost “nothing”. While there is much seemingly attractive research and many testimonials, we had great difficulty accessing the research studies in order to review the details that we had to abandon our search. We then attempted to call the telephone number on the website, but did not receive an answer. We were not surprised about this development, given the fact that we believe this technology is a whole lot of “nothing”.

Also, the testimonial section contained very few responses, which was not surprising either, given the fact that the most effective sleep aids will have extensive testimonial sections, while the less effective ones will usually post one or two on their site, if any.

We feel this sleep aid uses a non-transdermal patch to deliver “nothing” into the body and uses sketchy technology to do so. Frankly “nothing” is exactly what we believe consumers will receive if they decide to use this product. Individuals who instead wish to spend their money on a product that may actually deliver sleep may want to look at holistic supplements that utilize elements clinically proven to work.

For instance, many consumers have found relief from sleeplessness by using Hops, which has been shown to be an extremely effective sleep aid because it works directly on the central nervous system to induce sleep. This has been borne out by research studies in which subjects reported that Hops gave them a deeper and more relaxing sleep.
